Forever Cake
Take cake, just as an example.
Forever is a long time. Do you
really want to eat cake
that long?
Seemed wrong to me, to just eat that
and nothing else, that forever –
but she thought it was quite
okay,
To forever after never
eat more than cake. Heaven’s sake, said
I, “No fruit, no veg, not
a wedge
Of bread, no pasta, no meat, just
sweets forever after?” She roared
with laughter: “Carrot cake,
fruitcake,
Pineapple upside down cake, bread
and butter pud, minced meat pies
and creamy layer cakes.”
And then …
Her eyes glazed quite dreamy as she
breathed, “Cheese cake and butter cake”, and
she ate cake, and only cake,
forever.

Oh, Misky. I absolutely love this. Let her eat cake. Let ME eat cake. Let’s ALL eat cake! Mmmmm…cake.
Thank you! Cake and milk! Yeah!
I should never read your posts when I am hungry, particularly your Misky cooks pages; i want to take a sharp, small, sturdy hatchet, and give it one heavy thwop into my computer screen, just to get at the food. alas, alack, no hatchet, no real food!
Normally food doesn’t escape Misk Cooks and end up on my poetry blog, but sometimes I’m just pulled by food and … Mmmmmmm … Cake!
Didn’t get past the carrot cake, started drooling. Wonderful Misky, this is absolutely delightful,
Elizabeth

Yummy poetry, eh?
Thanks for reading it, and leaving a comment, Elizabeth.
Delicious. I may need insulin. I love that her eyes glazed; perfect choice.

Thank you, Dani! And thanks for taking the time to read it and leave a comment. Very much appreciated.
Misky, this is sheer genius! It cheered me up immensely.
Ah, that’s excellent, Viv. I am thrilled with the knowledge that I’ve made you smile.
This reminds me of a conversation with my grandson…about two and a half. A very picky eater. Loves his cookies. But I remember children full of sugar and would rather my son not leave the little darling in my care in such a state…so I won’t send him home that way either. So Son of Son can have his ‘cookies’ after good food.
This made me laugh out loud. Delightful.
What a wonderful poem! Yum! I think my eyes have glazed over!
nicely done Misky….thanks for sharing your words
Entirely my pleasure, and thank you for reading them.
