Recurring
It’s the same incident, time and term
and twirling hats
with gold threads swirling and rare mouldy
feather plumes scented
and accented with dabs of dry sac perfume.
A very good year,
everyone professes as they flutter
their neck scarves with their
fingers. And then they pry open the sherry
bottle and dry it,
stuff it like a date and pull it erect,
a model ship in full
sail, bottled and rolled on floundering
balls of fishermen’s
glass bathed green on sage scented waves. And
thunder drums and snares
the deck as princely
court plays and repeats
the same recurring
dream against a sea that’s drenched in a red
and coral sunset.

Yes, that was definitely allowed!

brilliant
Thank you, Emma!
I think you can write as many verses for the Whirl as you want – I’ve seen some post three. Though because not all are really interested in the story verse I’ve started posting a non-story verse as well. Always good to have options. I’m glad you posted this I am sure some of my images are different than what you might have intended, but your words still brought vivid imagery to life. Thanks!
Thanks, Jules. Wasn’t sure about linking to more than one.
